LICENSING
The MotoSPEC license can reside on single computer ('hardware-locked') or on a USB dongle.
Both are capable of being easily transferred to another computer in case of computer failure or staff turn-over, or if you would like to use the license on a laptop at the track and also on a desktop at home with a big screen.
The USB dongle cost is one-time and only on the initial purchase of the license - there is no additional cost on future renewals.

HARDWARE-LOCKED LICENSE
The hardware-locked license is a 28-digit alphanumeric key, that resides on the computer, not a USB dongle.
The license is administered by a internet server, and can be transferred between computers using an internet connection.
A constant internet connection is not required - the internet connection is only required to activate or transfer the license and then only once a month to check in with the license server.
A significant advantage of the hardware-locked license is that it can not be lost or broken physically, like the license dongle.
If the computer is stolen, lost or broken, the license can be reset on the server and you can apply it to another computer.
Also, with the hardware-locked license, the dongle is not vulnerable, sticking out of the computer.
USB DONGLE LICENSE
The USB dongle license can be transferred to another computer by simply unplugging the dongle from one computer, and plugging it into another. The USB license is most popular with international teams that can't rely on an internet connection if they need to transfer the license. However, if the USB dongle license is lost, it cannot be recovered. Replacement cost is the pro-rated cost for the remainder of the license term, plus the cost of the dongle and shipping. |
